A small Florida bakery is having a Hollywood moment \u2014 and a surge of orders \u2014 after actor Ryan Gosling<\/a> gave it an unexpected plug on\u00a0late-night television.<\/p>\n

The buzz began when Gosling appeared on \u201cLate Night with Seth Meyers\u201d and raved about a Tallahassee shop known for its homemade pastries<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The actor singled out The Cake Shop \u2014 praising its Pop Tart-style treats and urging viewers to try them.<\/p>\n

Gosling\u2019s connection to the bakery came through a personal link: The sister of \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d wardrobe supervisor Donna Richards owns the shop.\u00a0<\/p>\n

During his interview with Meyers, Gosling joked that the pastries were a staple behind the scenes when he hosted \u201cSaturday Night Live.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cShe owns a bakery in Florida in Tallahassee, and they make the most incredible Pop Tarts,\u201d Gosling said. \u201cYou have to order these Pop Tarts.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a total shock,\u201d owner Linda Richards told WCTV, describing the sudden spike in attention and demand.<\/p>\n

The Cake Shop\u2019s pastry is called the \u201cPopped\u201d Tart.<\/p>\n

Richards said Gosling asked for the strawberry flavor; but the treats also come in blueberry, cinnamon, and peanut butter and jelly.<\/p>\n

The Cake Shop has been operating in Florida\u2019s capital city<\/a> for over 25 years. The bakery is known for its\u00a0homemade desserts\u00a0and classic recipes, with a menu ranging from cakes and cookies to specialty pastries.<\/p>\n

Richards is the daughter of a chef who cooked for their family of six, sparking her interest\u00a0in baking, according to the bakery\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She \u201chas brought many\u00a0family recipes\u00a0to the bakery\u2019s repertoire,\u201d including oatmeal raisin cookies, \u201cMonkey Pies\u201d and her \u201cfamous\u201d chocolate chip cookies \u201cjust like Grandma used to make.\u201d<\/p>\n

But even for a well-established business, a celebrity mention can act like rocket fuel.<\/p>\n

Mom-and-pop shops don\u2019t often get this kind of national exposure \u2014 and when they do, the results can be immediate.<\/p>\n

In this case, timing added another twist: The bakery had been closed for\u00a0spring break\u00a0in the college town when Gosling\u2019s comments aired, so staff returned to a wave of pent-up demand.<\/p>\n

For The Cake Shop, it\u2019s a sweet problem to have.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was blown into another universe,\u201d Richards told WCTV.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, that\u2019s huge.\u201d<\/p>\n
