The city council vote had been delayed in February due to \u201cunanswered questions surrounding the project\u2019s cost,\u201d which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/03\/09\/delays-increased-costs-raise-questions-around-planned-wings-practice-facility\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/03\/09\/delays-increased-costs-raise-questions-around-planned-wings-practice-facility\/\">was $27M over budget<\/a>. The city would \u201ccap its total contribution\u201d at $57M under the revised agreement and the Wings \u201cwould have to cover\u201d the at least $27M remaining. When the Wings signed the agreement with the city of Dallas two years ago, CEO &amp; managing partner Greg Bibb \u201cexpected the team to have facilities in 2026\u201d that would \u201cattract the WNBA\u2019s top players.\u201d There is \u201cno telling what happens Wednesday, but the Wings hope they can start making progress\u201d with a No. 1 draft pick on the way and free agency beginning April 7.
