\n\tWarner Bros. Discovery has revealed the name, first trailer and release date for its anticipated new Harry Potter<\/a> series.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe reveals were made at an event in London to celebrate the launch of HBO Max in the country<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tTitled Harry Potter and the Philosopher\u2019s Stone, like the first installment in the movie franchise outside the U.S., the show will launch globally on HBO<\/a> Max on Christmas Day this year. Above is the first trailer.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe logline reads: There is nothing special about Harry Potter \u2014 at least that\u2019s what his Aunt Petunia always says. On his 11th birthday, a letter of admittance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry opens up a hidden world for Harry: one of fun, friendship and magic. But with this new adventure comes great risk as Harry is forced to face a dangerous enemy from his past.<\/p>\n

HBO\u2019s \u2018Harry Potter and the Philosopher\u2019s Stone\u2019 trailer was revealed at an HBO Max UK launch event inside \u201cThe Cupboard Under The Stairs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe trailer features characters including Harry, Aunt Petunia, Ron, Draco, Snape, Ollivander, Professor McGonagall and Rubeus Hagrid. We see Harry being bullied in school and his invitation to Hogwarts.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYour parents were the bravest, kindest people I\u2019ve ever met \u2026 they stood up for what they think is right. \u2026 Next time I see you will be in Hogwarts,\u201d Hagrid tells Potter. \u201cMr. Potter, I think we can expect great things from you,\u201d Ollivander, the wand maker, later says to him.<\/p>\n

\n\tHBO teased the first image from the series on Instagram<\/a> on Tuesday with a photo featuring Harry Potter, played by Dominic McLaughlin, wearing his Gryffindor cloak for the first time and headed toward a Quidditch pitch.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe series also stars Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, Tristan Harland as Fred Weasley, Gabriel Harland as George Weasley, Ruari Spooner as Percy Weasley, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Finn Stephens as Vincent Crabbe, William Nash as Gregory Goyle, Warwick Davis as Filius Flitwick and Sirine Saba as Pomona Sprout.<\/p>\n

\n\tHarry Potter and the Philosopher\u2019s Stone will debut Christmas Day on HBO and will be available to stream exclusively on HBO Max<\/a> where it\u2019s available, including recent launch markets Germany, Italy, and the UK & Ireland.<\/p>\n

\n\tSuccession<\/a>\u00a0duo\u00a0Francesca Gardiner<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Mark Mylod<\/a>\u00a0write and direct, respectively. Gardiner serves as showrunner and executive producer, and Mylod will direct multiple episodes in addition to serving as executive producer.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe series, based on J.K. Rowling\u2019s blockbuster books also is executive produced by Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Bront\u00eb Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films.<\/p>\n
