But his approach to fitness isn\u2019t always conventional. Here\u2019s how he stays in shape to achieve his goals.<\/p>\n<p>Why Sterling Brown Dropped the Weights<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"14\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Despite his muscular physique, Brown has shied away from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/building-muscle\/a64384191\/how-to-lift-heavy-muscle-building\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/building-muscle\/a64384191\/how-to-lift-heavy-muscle-building\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"heavy weightlifting\" data-node-id=\"14.1\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">heavy weightlifting<\/a> over the past couple of decades. His drama teachers at grad school in New York advised him against bulking up further, claiming more muscle would detract from his performances. \u2018My teachers told me to stop lifting weights,\u2019 Brown told  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/entertainment\/a29413239\/sterling-k-brown-age-longevity-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/entertainment\/a29413239\/sterling-k-brown-age-longevity-interview\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"MH\" data-node-id=\"14.3.1.0\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">MH<\/a>. \u2018I was like, \u201cWhat are you talking about?\u201d And they were like, \u201cIt\u2019s gonna be hard for things to pass through you with all this musculature. In recent years, the 49-year-old\u2019s training has become even more varied.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"24\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018My whole thing is about muscle confusion, trying to do different things all the time,\u2019 he explained to  <a href=\"https:\/\/parade.com\/967203\/nicolepajer\/sterling-k-brown-fitness-routine\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/parade.com\/967203\/nicolepajer\/sterling-k-brown-fitness-routine\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Parade\" data-node-id=\"24.1.1.0\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Parade<\/a>. \u2018I go to rock climbing gyms. I will run. I have a son who plays soccer and plays flag football, so I\u2019ll just get out and play with him. I have a bike. I\u2019ve done one triathlon and hopefully in the future I\u2019ll get a chance to do a few more. I have a swimming pool, so I will swim in the backyard. And basketball. I do as many things as possible because that keeps it fun.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Quick Workouts When Short on Time<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"30\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">With a busy schedule, Brown isn\u2019t always able to train exactly how he\u2019d like. That\u2019s why he\u2019s developed a short  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/workouts\/g30417685\/bodyweight-home-workout\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/workouts\/g30417685\/bodyweight-home-workout\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"bodyweight circuit\" data-node-id=\"30.1\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">bodyweight circuit<\/a> that challenges his conditioning and can be done anywhere.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"35\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018I have a pyramid workout that I\u2019ll do when I have limited amount of time,\u2019 he told Parade. \u2018It consists of 50 jumping jacks, 40  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/building-muscle\/a755607\/how-to-master-the-squat\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/building-muscle\/a755607\/how-to-master-the-squat\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"squats\" data-node-id=\"35.3\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">squats<\/a>, 30 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/how-tos\/a61873500\/perfect-push-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/how-tos\/a61873500\/perfect-push-up\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"push-ups\" data-node-id=\"35.5\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">push-ups<\/a>, 20 butt-ups, and 10  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/fitness\/cardio-exercise\/a65086932\/how-many-burpees\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/fitness\/cardio-exercise\/a65086932\/how-many-burpees\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"burpees\" data-node-id=\"35.7\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">burpees<\/a>. And then if you have a pull-up bar handy, you\u2019ll do 10  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/building-muscle\/a30380542\/how-to-pullup-best-exercises\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/building-muscle\/a30380542\/how-to-pullup-best-exercises\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"pull-ups\" data-node-id=\"35.9\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">pull-ups<\/a>. And you\u2019ll cycle through that thing three times. And at the end of it, you want to question whether or not life is worth living. But it is because you just did a bad ass workout. You get to live to see another day. And usually takes less than a half hour.\u2019<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"39\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Even when filming, Brown finds ways to stay active on set. \u2018Sometimes I just drop down and do 50 push-ups or 50 jumping jacks. Or I\u2019ll find a bar somewhere randomly on set and I\u2019ll just do like 10 pull-ups or something like that. Because the day is so long \u2013 it can be 12 hours \u2013 and you can\u2019t spend that time just sedentary. You\u2019ve got to move to get the blood pumping and flowing.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Wanting to Live to 100<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"44\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">All that movement has a purpose. Brown has a clear goal of living to 100 \u2013 and staying fit and active when he gets there. It\u2019s a mindset that was sparked during his first  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/fitness\/a60264921\/calvin-mcdonald-lululemon-triathlon-workout\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/fitness\/a60264921\/calvin-mcdonald-lululemon-triathlon-workout\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"triathlon\" data-node-id=\"44.1\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">triathlon<\/a> in his 30s, when a man in his 80s finished just 15 minutes behind him.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"48\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018It\u2019s easier to maintain a level of fitness than it is to lose it and try to get it back,\u2019 he said. \u2018You want to do enough that you feel like you\u2019ve done something, but not so much that you don\u2019t wanna do it again tomorrow. So it\u2019s not about trying to kill yourself. It\u2019s about trying to give yourself the inspiration to continue.\u2019<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"52\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">He continued: \u2018I just don\u2019t want to give in to the statistical analysis that says that is my fate. So I try to do things as proactively as possible to ensure that I\u2019m around to see my children\u2019s children and be of value to them when they come into the world. There\u2019s so much to live for, and I don\u2019t want to sell myself short by thinking I don\u2019t have a right to longevity and vitality any more or less than anyone else.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Peptides, Stem Cells and Injections<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"57\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Brown is doing everything he can to support his longevity goals \u2013 something highlighted by a recent injury. After joining a pick-up game of basketball with his son\u2019s teenage friends in 2025, he tore his Achilles tendon making a sharp change of direction. But rather than relying solely on rehab, the actor also turned to injectable therapies to support his recovery.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"61\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018I take peptides,\u2019 he told  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-Asm8XTqHZI\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-Asm8XTqHZI\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"MH\" data-node-id=\"61.1.1.0\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">MH<\/a>. \u2018I\u2019ve done PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injections a few times. I\u2019ve done stem cells. If it\u2019s going to help, hit me up. I am blessed to be in a place where I was like, \u201cOh, I can do it, so let me do it.\u201d I think the peptides have been very, very helpful. I think the PRP has been very, very helpful too. I\u2019m not necessarily sure which one is doing what between PRP, between stem cells and the Wolverine BPC 157, but I do know that I feel stronger.\u2019<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"65\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">And despite having suffered two ACL injuries before, Brown is determined to return to full fitness. \u2018For me, the body is a use-it-or-lose-it machine.
