Last year around this time, when Boston College\u2019s season ended and NHL prospects considered their next steps, head coach Greg Brown watched as Gabe Perreault \u2014 a first-round pick in 2023 \u2014 signed with the Rangers. <\/p>\n

Perreault burned the first year of his entry-level deal in exchange for five games of invaluable experience. <\/p>\n

He made his Garden debut with former Eagles teammates in attendance, including defenseman Drew Fortescue<\/a>, the Blueshirts\u2019 third-round pick in that same draft who had just finished his sophomore year.<\/p>\n

And last week, with Boston College\u2019s season over and NHL prospects thinking about their next steps, Brown \u2014 five years after his final season as an assistant with the Blueshirts on David Quinn\u2019s staff \u2014 went through the same process with Fortescue. As the Rangers navigate their retool and focus on the players who will shape their future, Brown\u2019s fingerprints will be all over it.
