Teddi Mellencamp shared praise for her father, John Mellencamp, as the legendary singer was honored with the Icon Award<\/a> at Thursday\u2019s iHeartRadio Music Awards.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy dad, throughout my past journey, has been unbelievable,\u201d the \u201cReal Housewives of Beverly Hills\u201d alum, who has been battling cancer since 2022, exclusively told Page Six at the Los Angeles event, adding that he \u201cpretty much saved my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added that the \u201cJack & Diane\u201d hitmaker, 74, \u201cswooped in\u201d to help his famous daughter, despite the fact that he lives in Indiana.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was out here for months with me in the hospital, taking care of me at my bedside,\u201d she shared. <\/p>\n

The Bravolebrity said that her father\u2019s care \u201cgoes to show who he is as a person.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cHe doesn\u2019t do anything halfway,\u201d she gushed. \u201cAnd I think that\u2019s why there\u2019s no better person to get the Icon Award than my dad.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 44-year-old reality TV personality echoed those sentiments while taking the stage on Thursday to present the Icon Award to John. <\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, \u2018Longest Days\u2019 has been the song that means the most,\u201d she said in a tearful tribute, referencing her father\u2019s 2008 hit. <\/p>\n

\u201cIn it he sings, \u2018But nothing lasts forever \/ Your best efforts don\u2019t always pay \/ Sometimes when you get sick and you don\u2019t get better \/ That\u2019s when life is short, even in its longest days.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a little over a year ago when I got sick. My life felt short even when the days in the hospital seemed to go on forever,\u201d she told the audience, adding, \u201csometimes you get sick and you don\u2019t get better.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wasn\u2019t going to let that lyric define my life,\u201d she continued, sharing that John \u201cstepped up, took control, fought for me, and pretty much changed my life. Saved my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re celebrating the icon, the artist, a man the whole world knows is John Mellencamp, a man I get to call \u2018Dad\u2019 and my best friend.\u201d<\/p>\n

John then handed his lifetime achievement trophy to Teddi, saying, \u201cI\u2019m going to take this award and I\u2019m going to give it to Teddi, so that\u2019s yours.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

In October, she said the cancer\u00a0was gone<\/a>, though it\u2019ll be potentially years before doctors are able to clear her as officially being in remission. <\/p>\n

Through it all, her dad \u2014 who welcomed Teddi with ex-wife Victoria Granucci \u2014 has been a support.<\/p>\n

He shared in January that the TV star was \u201csuffering\u201d as she battled the illness<\/a>, saying on an episode of the \u201cJoe Rogan Experience\u201d that \u201cIt\u2019s not f\u2013king fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also in January, the rocker\u00a0told \u201cToday\u201d show viewers\u00a0that he was \u201ctry[ing] to talk her into\u201d moving to Indiana <\/a>from her home in Los Angeles so he could attend to her full time. However, he said at the time, she \u201cwon\u2019t do it.\u201d<\/p>\n
