That\u2019s not enough for food on the table,\u201d said jeepney driver Michael Llabore, a father of five. \u201cThe president needs to address why they let the oil companies increase their prices almost everyday.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmn8jf8zm000e3b6q438b95ex@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Protesters are expected to march through the city toward the Presidential Palace, where barricades and a heavy police presence is expected.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmn8ithxw00063b6qdmcilqz2@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Earlier this week, the Philippines became the first country in the world to announce a state of emergency due to the energy shortages, with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. warning that there was an \u201cimminent danger\u201d to the \u201cavailability and stability of the country\u2019s energy supply.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmn8itlnh00073b6q4u34uag3@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Maria Theresa Lazaro <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/03\/26\/world\/live-news\/iran-war-us-israel-trump?post-id=cmn7onzmd00003b6sb8z8jhq8\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told CNN\u2019s Christiane Amanpour<\/a> that the country had 40-45 days\u2019 worth of petroleum supply left and outlined the \u201ccascading effects\u201d of higher energy prices on the economy.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmn8itlnh00093b6q7g2i64w9@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Measures include introducing fuel subsidies and other initiatives to reduce transport costs, taking action against hoarding, profiteering and manipulation of the supply of petroleum products.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmn8k09ot00043b6spb2giyx3@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Jeepney drivers and other public transport operators have been struggling to stay afloat amid the soaring cost of oil.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmn8kg29t000h3b6qjludziza@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Allan Las Pinas, 46, also a jeepney driver, said the oil price increase has reduced his daily income.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmn8khpyl000i3b6qry1pwm1k@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cBefore, I could give part of my earnings everyday to my kids, but now I ask them to be patient because I can\u2019t anymore,\u201d he said. \u201cBecause I earn less now, my earnings go to food.
