\n\tThe International Olympic Committee\u2019s decision to ban transgender women from competing in women\u2019s events at the Olympic games has found unsurprising support in \u201cHarry Potter<\/a>\u201d author J.K. Rowling<\/a>, who has regularly come under fire since 2017 for sharing anti-trans views on social media. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cToday\u2019s ruling by the IOC means a welcome return to fair sport for women and girls, but I\u2019ll never forget the scandal of Paris 2024, when people who consider themselves supremely virtuous and progressive publicly cheered on men punching women,\u201d Rowling posted on X, referring to the IOC\u2019s decision to allow Algeria\u2019s\u00a0Imane Khelif<\/a>\u00a0to compete in the women\u2019s boxing competition at the Paris 2024 summer games.<\/p>\n

\n\tRowling denounced the Olympics<\/a> in 2024 for allowing Khleif to box other women. Khelif was disqualified from the Women\u2019s World Championships a year prior after she failed a gender eligibility test due to elevated levels of testosterone in her system.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cCould any picture sum up our new men\u2019s rights movement better?\u201d Rowling wrote on X during the 2024 Olympics<\/a> while sharing a picture of Italy\u2019s Angela Carini in tears and Khelif trying to comfort her after the latter defeated her opponent in 46 seconds because Carini bowed out of the match. \u201cThe smirk of a male who\u2019s knows he\u2019s protected by a misogynist sporting establishment enjoying the distress of a woman he\u2019s just punched in the head, and whose life\u2019s ambition he\u2019s just shattered.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Olympics stood by its decision to allow Khelif, who was born female, to compete in the women\u2019s boxing competition, saying: \u201cEveryone competing in the women\u2019s category is complying with the competition eligibility rules. They are women in their passports and it is stated that is the case, that they are female.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe IOC announced March 26 that transgender women would be banned from events at future Olympic games. The organization issued the following statement (via AP<\/a>): \u201cEligibility for any female category event at the Olympic Games or any other IOC event, including individual and team sports, is now limited to biological females.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRowling has often taken to X to denounce transgender women competing in women\u2019s sports. She infamously got into a social media spat <\/a>with HBO\u2019s \u201cLast Week Tonight\u201d host John Oliver over the issue, calling him an \u201cundoubtedly intelligent person\u201d who \u201cspouts absolute bullshit\u201d after he claimed \u201cthere is no evidence [transgender athletes] pose any threat to safety or fairness.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRowling\u2019s celebration of the IOC\u2019s decision to ban transgender athletes was followed by quick praise for HBO\u2019s \u201cHarry Potter\u201d reboot series, the first trailer for which<\/a> dropped a day before the Olympics news broke. Rowling has been involved in the series development and consulted with studio executives during its making.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s going to be incredible. I\u2019m so happy with it,\u201d Rowling responded to a fan, about 20 minutes after praising the Olympics\u2019 ban.
