Okay, we\u2019ll admit it: we\u2019ve spent the hours since the Xbox Partner Preview<\/a> thinking Rebellion\u2019s new FPS Alien Deathstorm<\/a> is related to the Ridley Scott movie.<\/p>\n

Actually, it\u2019s not, but it wasn\u2019t a wild assumption to make, seeing as the UK studio famously made Alien vs Predator<\/a> for the Atari Jaguar back in 1994. (As well as its 2010 revival for the PS3.)<\/p>\n

We suspect, then, some of that pedigree is going into this all-new first-person shooter, which is launching in 2027.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

To be fair, this is the kind of throwback type of game announcement you don\u2019t see very often anymore: it\u2019s not a live service game. It\u2019s not a hero shooter. It\u2019s just a white-knuckle action horror game set on an off-world colony.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how the dev describes it<\/a>:<\/p>\n

In Alien Deathstorm, you play as the Combat Engineer, a highly trained first responder, who has been dispatched to a remote, off-world colony that has suffered a complete loss of communications. Arriving days or potentially weeks ahead of a full rescue fleet, your job is to determine what has caused the colony to fall silent and try to save as many lives as possible.<\/p>\n

As you land the Deathstorm is tearing the colony to shreds. You must navigate the on-going destruction, amid apocalyptic conditions and with the threat of unknown alien horrors. You knew it was going to be bad, but it\u2019s much worse than you thought it would be, and it\u2019s going downhill fast. What you thought was a rescue mission has now become a fight for survival.<\/p>\n
