Megyn Kelly <\/a>has hit out at Hoda Kotb<\/a> for showing a candid display of emotion during her recent interview<\/a> on Today. Earlier this week, Hoda interviewed fellow Today host Savannah Guthrie<\/a> about the disappearance and suspected abduction of her mother, Nancy Guthrie<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Following her departure from Fox News, Megyn worked at NBC from 2017 to 2019, the same network as Savannah and Hoda. In 2018, NBC decided not to renew her contract, following her defense of Luann de Lesseps<\/a> darkening her skin while dressed up as Diana Ross<\/a>. Now, on her podcast, The Megyn Kelly Show, the conservative podcaster is slamming her ex-coworker.<\/p>\n

Megyn Kelly thinks Hoda Kotb shouldn\u2019t have cried<\/p>\n

In the new podcast episode, Megyn gave her opinion on the Today interview<\/a> \u201cfrom a journalistic perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWith respect, I have to say I think Hoda Kotb fell down on the job, and I don\u2019t think she was the woman for the interview,\u201d she said. Then, she offered a theory about why Hoda was tasked with the major interview \u2014 Savannah\u2019s first since her mother\u2019s suspected abduction.<\/p>\n

\u201c[NBC] put her out there because they use this as a promotional vehicle. The two are friends, look, \u2018We\u2019re a big family, look at them relating,’\u201d she claimed.<\/p>\n

Then, Megyn claimed the network made the unorthodox decision to keep Hoda\u2019s mic on \u201cfor her empathetic sounds and her active listening.\u201d She called the alleged move \u201ca major distraction\u201d and a \u201cvery odd\u201d choice.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNormally, the network would turn down, hold Hoda\u2019s mic during Savannah\u2019s very compelling answers,\u201d Megyn claimed. \u201cEspecially in an interview this big.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moreover, Megyn accused the network of emphasizing Hoda\u2019s emotional reaction to her friend\u2019s traumatic experience. She claimed the microphone was used as a form of emotional manipulation by NBC. \u201cI\u2019m telling you, NBC had an agenda here, which was to show you one big, happy family. Look how empathetic she is,\u201d the podcaster said.<\/p>\n
