Brandon Duhaime<\/a> has once again stuck up for his teammate in a major way after a bad hit.<\/p>\n

Late in the first period of Thursday\u2019s game, Utah Mammoth forward Brandon Tanev<\/a> boarded Matt Roy<\/a> headfirst into the boards, woozying the Washington Capitals defenseman.<\/p>\n

Both Tom Wilson<\/a> and Trevor van Riemsdyk<\/a> immediately engaged Tanev, but the ghost-seeing hockey player<\/a> did not seem interested in answering the bell. Wilson even mimicked a turtle on his way to the penalty box to mock Tanev\u2019s unwillingness to fight.<\/p>\n

So in the second period, with the game tied 3-3, Duhaime stepped up and fought Tanev in a spirited Brandon vs Brandon bout right after a center-ice faceoff.<\/p>\n

Duhaime\u2019s fight fired up his Capitals teammates, who all filed off the bench during the TV timeout to give him fist bumps in the penalty box. Well, except for one player.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, I love that stuff,\u201d said Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery, a former enforcer himself, when asked if he\u2019d ever seen that before in his career. \u201cI\u2019m a sucker for that stuff where guys have so much appreciation and so much love for their brother that just threw down for them and did that. There was one, Marty goes, Marty couldn\u2019t make it over there. He was trying to save his legs. They go, \u2018Marty, what are you doing? You\u2019ve got to get over there.\u2019 He\u2019s like, \u2018I\u2019ve got to save my legs.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it was, yeah, it was impressive to see. But that\u2019s our group. It\u2019s a brotherhood in there, and they love each other. And when they see stuff like that, they\u2019re so proud of each other and want to congratulate them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duhaime previously gained a massive amount of respect from his teammates earlier in the season after fighting the much-larger Jacob Trouba<\/a> in the Capitals\u2019 rematch against the Anaheim Ducks on January 6. Trouba had previously landed a blindside hit on Ryan Leonard<\/a>, causing the Capitals rookie to miss several weeks with a shoulder injury<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unbelievable,\u201d Leonard said of Duahime then<\/a>. \u201cIt went without saying that you knew my teammate was going to step up for me. And that\u2019s just the type of brotherhood we have in there. It doesn\u2019t go unnoticed, and it means a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carbery called Duhaime\u2019s fight, as well as Dylan McIlrath\u2019s against Ross Johnston that night, \u201cthe most important part of the game,\u201d garnering a standing ovation from Capitals players for the pair inside the locker room<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Duhaime\u2019s fight with Tanev marked the seventh time the Doggie\u2019s<\/a> dropped the glove this season.
