Having made his first international appearance under Thomas Tuchel as a second-half substitute, Cole Palmer\u2019s England cameo against Uruguay got a positive response from the national media.<\/p>\n

Cole Palmer<\/a> came on as a second-half substitute against Uruguay for Manchester City\u2019s Phil Foden with just over 30 minutes to play at Wembley. <\/p>\n

He operated in a bit of a free-roam role centrally, which is a position that Thomas Tuchel stated was Cole Palmer\u2019s best<\/a> in the lead-up to the friendly.<\/p>\n

It was his corner that led to the first goal, as Harvey Barnes knocked it goalwards before Ben White got the finishing touch. He had a couple of promising moments, creating an opportunity for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and causing havoc from another corner.<\/p>\n

And the national media agreed with that assessment of the Chelsea<\/a> midfielder.<\/p>\n

The national media were extremely impressed with Cole Palmer\u2019s cameo, he was one of the only players to actually take the ball and drive forward. <\/p>\n

And perhaps should have had an assist, as previously mentioned, had Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored his header.<\/p>\n

BBC<\/a> \u2013 The start of the battle for the number 10 position for Palmer. Brought on in place of Foden and the Chelsea playmaker looked to make things happen and should have had an assist when his free-kick was headed wide from close range by Calvert-Lewin.\u00a06<\/p>\n

Wanted the ball often and impressed more than the Manchester City man he replaced,\u00a0and it was from his corner where England scored.
