Crowds began amassing Saturday morning in cities from Maine to Florida as demonstrators launched a third round of “No Kings” protests<\/a> against the Trump administration’s policies, with the flagship rally underway in St. Paul, Minnesota, the site of this winter’s immigration enforcement operation in which two Americans were killed.<\/p>\n

Organizers say millions are expected to gather across the country and around the world in what they predict will be the \u201csingle largest non-violent day of action\u201d in American history.<\/p>\n

More than 3,200 marches are planned across all 50 states and several continents, as protesters voice outrage over Trump’s handling of the war with Iran, rising cost of gas and his administration’s mass deportation agenda.<\/p>\n

The choice of St. Paul as the movement’s central protest site carries particular meaning. The Twin Cities remains a flashpoint after the January killings of two Americans \u2014 Alex Pretti<\/a> and Renee Good<\/a> \u2014 during a federal immigration enforcement operation that drew backlash and scrutiny over tactics used against protesters and immigrants.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince the last No Kings [protests], we\u2019re seeing higher gas prices and groceries, all while there\u2019s an illegal war in Iran,\u201d Sarah Parker, a national coordinator for the group 50501, told reporters Thursday on a national press call previewing Saturday\u2019s events.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve also seen our neighbors executed, American citizens executed, and our children carrying the burden of owning their own power and walking out of school in defiance,\u201d Parker added. \u201cThe people of America are pissed. They are the ones demanding for no kings.\u201d<\/p>\n

A national NBC News poll from earlier this month found that majorities of registered voters in the U.S. disapprove of the president\u2019s handling<\/a> of immigration, Iran and inflation and the cost of living.<\/p>\n

Organizers, who hail from left-leaning groups including Indivisible, Public Citizen, MoveOn, the American Civil Liberties Union and the National Action Network, expect the third No Kings day of protest to be far larger than the first two. More than 7 million people rallied across the country and around the world during October\u2019s No Kings day of action.<\/p>\n

Leaders of the movement said they were encouraged that more than 50% of official protest events registered on their website for Saturday were in Republican-leaning or battleground states and areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe stat is impressive. It\u2019s meaningful. I think it also just speaks to the universal appeal of what we\u2019re trying to accomplish here. This is not a partisan issue. It\u2019s actually the most patriotic thing you can do. To stand up and stand together and say that there aren\u2019t kings in America is not controversial,\u201d Lisa Gilbert, the co-president of Public Citizen, told reporters.<\/p>\n

The first No Kings day of protest, in June 2025<\/a>, was organized amid Trump\u2019s decision to hold a military parade<\/a> in Washington on his birthday.<\/p>\n

At the time, the president told reporters<\/a>, \u201cif there\u2019s any protester that wants to come out, they will be met with very big force. I haven\u2019t even heard about a protest, but you know, this is people that hate our country, but they will be met with very heavy force.\u201d<\/p>\n

Organizers have preached non-violence since the inception of \u201cNo Kings,\u201d and said they expected protesters Saturday to remain peaceful even if met with resistance from federal agents deployed across the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are not going to be intimidated,\u201d Deirdre Schifeling, the chief political and advocacy officer at the ACLU, said Thursday. \u201cWe are going to be safe. We are going to be peaceful. We are going to be free. So yes, know your rights, and also, we will not be scared off by this tactic.\u201d<\/p>\n
