The Pittsburgh Steelers met with 16 receivers at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine<\/a> in late February and early March, signaling a clear interest in the position group ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n

A number of big names at the position met with the Steelers, and now there\u2019s another name added to the mix to push the total to 17.<\/p>\n

That would be Texas Tech wide receiver Caleb Douglas.<\/p>\n

Speaking with NFL Draft on SI\u2019s Justin Melo, Douglas revealed he had a formal meeting with the Steelers at the Combine, a name that we didn\u2019t know met with the Steelers at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a formal interview at the NFL Combine with the Pittsburgh Steelers,\u201d Douglas said to Melo and Sports Illustrated.<\/a> \u201cI met on Zoom with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Miami Dolphins, to name just a few. I\u2019ve had meetings with the Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers, and Jacksonville Jaguars.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last season at Texas Tech, Douglas played in 14 games for the Red Raiders and hauled in 54 passes for 846 yards and seven touchdowns, earning second-team All-Big 12 accolades. He also earned an invite to the Senior Bowl, and added a Combine invite, too.<\/p>\n

At the Combine, Douglas measured in at 6034, 206 pounds<\/a> with 10 1\/8-inch hands and clocked a 4.39 40-yard dash. He also had a 31.5-inch vertical and a 10\u20196\u2033 broad jump.<\/p>\n

During his career with Texas Tech, Douglas spent two seasons in Lubbock, playing in 27 games. In those two seasons, Douglas hauled in 114 passes for 1,723 yards and 13 touchdowns. Prior to his time with the Red Raiders, Douglas spent two seasons at Florida, playing in 13 games, hauling in just 21 passes for 308 yards and three touchdowns before transferring.<\/p>\n

Douglas comes from a football background as his father, Cedric, was a quarterback at Vanderbilt and Texas Southern. Douglas grew up in the Houston area and was a former 4-star recruit coming out of high school before heading to Florida.<\/p>\n

After trading for Michael Pittman Jr. at the start of the new league year, the Steelers shored up the WR2 role in the first year of head coach Mike McCarthy. But there is a need in the rest of the receiver room behind DK Metcalf and Pittman, especially from a speed perspective, and has a height\/weight\/speed guy, Douglas is a guy that could be an attractive option and a name to watch on Day 3.<\/p>\n
