{"id":55284,"date":"2025-08-03T12:58:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-03T12:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/55284\/"},"modified":"2025-08-03T12:58:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-03T12:58:09","slug":"6-minute-solar-eclipse-coming-in-2-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/55284\/","title":{"rendered":"6-minute solar eclipse coming in 2 years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">(CNN) &#8211; Mark your calendar if you like to plan ahead for unique celestial events.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/\">NASA<\/a> says a total eclipse of the sun, one that will last more than six minutes and 23 seconds at its peak, will take place two years from now on Aug. 2, 2027.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The solar eclipse\u2019s length will be one of the longest in several decades.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Scientists say crossing that six-minute threshold will be similar to an eclipse that happened in 1991, which lasted six minutes and 53 seconds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/\">Space.com<\/a> predicts the 2027 eclipse will be the longest one to occur until 2114.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The eclipse will be visible in parts of Africa, Europe and the Middle East, but most people in the United States will not get a chance to see it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A solar eclipse happens when the moon moves between the sun and the Earth and casts a shadow on Earth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 CNN Newsource.
