The Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> are starting to peak at the right time with the playoffs approaching. LeBron James made it clear last summer that he wanted to compete for a championship<\/a>, and the Lakers appear to be delivering on that expectation.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeBron wants to compete for a championship,\u201d Rich Paul told ESPN. \u201cHe knows the Lakers are building for the future. He understands that, but he values a realistic chance of winning it all. James has also had the opportunity to play alongside his son, Bronny James, over the past two seasons. In the last two games, LeBron has shared the court with Bronny as the young guard has logged meaningful minutes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe path of least resistance involves both James as members of the Lakers next season. That would, of course, involve a lot of sacrifice on LeBron’s part. The aging forward would almost certainly need to take a pay cut and perhaps even lessen his role with the team more than what he already has. That could be the trade-off for getting to run the bench unit minutes with Bronny in 2026-27. It was something LeBron thoroughly enjoyed during the recent 137-130 win over the Indiana Pacers<\/a>. If Bronny continues on the upward trend everyone is noticing over his first two years with the Lakers, that could be a regular occurrence for the pair in 2026-27. It gives LeBron yet another thing to mull over before making his (final) decision in the summer,\u201d Lake Show Life\u2019s Syvatoslav Rovenchuk wrote.<\/a><\/p>\n

Bronny is in the second year of his $7.9 million rookie contract and appears to be making the most of his opportunities. After this season, he will still have two years remaining on his deal, which could align with LeBron\u2019s potential timeline if he chooses to continue playing.<\/p>\n

The Lakers\u2019 growing team chemistry could make them an even stronger contender moving forward. While there is no confirmation that LeBron will stay beyond this season, the chance to continue playing alongside Bronny could be a significant factor in his decision.<\/p>\n
