Tottenham have parted company with Igor Tudor after seven games and 44 days in a desperate attempt to halt their slide towards relegation from the Premier League.<\/p>\n
According to the club, the decision was mutually agreed. Tudor took one point from his five league matches to leave Tottenham one point and one place above the bottom three, the final straw coming with last Sunday\u2019s 3-0 home defeat by Nottingham Forest<\/a>. A previously unthinkable demotion to the Championship would be devastating for prestige and revenues.<\/p>\n The situation has been coloured by human tragedy, with Tudor told after the Forest game of the death of his father, Mario<\/a>. The club wanted to show as much sensitivity towards the Croat as possible. His other two matches were in the Champions League last 16 against Atl\u00e9tico Madrid, his team going out 7-5 on aggregate. They lost the first leg 5-2<\/a> before winning the return 3-2<\/a>.<\/p>\n Spurs acknowledged Tudor\u2019s bereavement, sending their \u201csupport to him and his family at this difficult time\u201d. Tudor\u2019s goalkeeping coach, Tomislav Rogic, and the physical coach, Riccardo Ragnacci, have also departed. Bruno Saltor, one of the club\u2019s other coaches, will take training until Tudor\u2019s successor is announced. Spurs intend for that to happen in the coming days.<\/p>\n They have been exploring the market for a few weeks now, looking for a contingency plan in the event of them having to move on without Tudor. It has not been straightforward, with a number of targets not wanting to commit on a short-term basis for a relegation battle. Spurs do not play again until Sunday week at Sunderland, but time is nonetheless of the essence. Their international players are away with their countries for the current window but they will return towards the back end of this week.<\/p>\n
