\n\tRob Schneider<\/a> took to X on Friday to declare that the United States \u201cmust restore the military draft for our nation\u2019s young people\u201d amid the ongoing war with Iran.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cEach and every American, at eighteen years of age, must serve two years of military service,\u201d Schneider, who has never served in the military, wrote<\/a>. \u201cThey could also choose to serve part of that time overseas or in country in a volunteer capacity. Being a citizen of the United States gives us unparalleled Freedoms and opportunities that are the envy of the world. However, these Freedoms that we cherish do not come without a cost.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe continued, \u201cBy protecting and preserving these Freedoms, young people, regardless of race, creed or religion will be united in service to their country and just as importantly, to each other. Many Nations around the world require their young citizens to serve their country. Until recently, our Nation did as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSchneider claimed that by reinstating the draft, young Americans would be \u201cput into a rigorous physical training course that they could use for the rest of their lives.\u201d He also claimed that, \u201cunlike in today\u2019s universities,\u201d the military would teach them \u201chow truly great their country is.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTo the young people of America, this is your country and your future,\u201d he concluded. \u201cWe will leave this great and Free Nation in your good hands for your children and for your children\u2019s children. God Bless the United States of America!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe United States called its last military draft on Dec. 7, 1972, amid the Vietnam War.
