Jannik Sinner is chasing Carlos Alcaraz for the top spot in the PIF ATP Rankings.

Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> and Jannik Sinner<\/a> are yet to clash in 2026, but nonetheless, their rivalry is continuing as they battle for the top spot in the PIF ATP Rankings. <\/p>\n \nFollowing Sinner\u2019s title run at the Miami Open presented by Itau<\/a>, the Italian has closed the gap between himself and World No. 1 Alcaraz. The Spaniard Alcaraz remains 1,190 points clear of Sinner in the PIF ATP Live Rankings, but the 24-year-old Sinner is quickly approaching.<\/p>\n Entering the BNP Paribas Open<\/a>, Alcaraz led Sinner by 3,150 points in the PIF ATP Rankings. But Sinner has turned the tables leading into the clay season.<\/p>\n The Italian was not defending any points in Indian Wells or Miami while Alcaraz was defending 410 points. That in itself was not jarring, but the results that followed made a huge difference.<\/p>\n Alcaraz fell in the Indian Wells semi-finals to Daniil Medvedev<\/a> and the Miami third round to Sebastian Korda<\/a>, opening the door for his rival. Sinner stepped right through, adding 2,000 points to his total with a flawless March performance.<\/p>\n Sinner boasts a 19-2 season record, according to the Infosys ATP Win\/Loss Index and has gained momentum by becoming the first man in history to win the \u2018Sunshine Double\u2019 without dropping a set.<\/p>\n But Sinner still trails Alcaraz by a big margin of 1,190 points, right? Last year, the Spaniard triumphed at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters<\/a>, the Internazionali BNL d’Italia<\/a> in Rome and at Roland Garros<\/a>, while he also reached the final at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell<\/a>. In contrast, Sinner has just 1,950 points to defend, and none until Rome in May.<\/p>\n \nAlcaraz on Monday will begin his 65th week as World No. 1, one shy of tying Sinner\u2019s total of 66 weeks.
