\n\tBTS has earned its seventh No. 1 album<\/a> on the Billboard 200<\/a> with \u201cArirang,\u201d scoring the biggest sales week for an album by a group in over a decade.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cArirang\u201d opens on the chart with 641,000 equivalent album units, 532,000 of which are pure album sales. It\u2019s the biggest first week for an album by units since Taylor Swift\u2019s \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl\u201d bowed at No. 1 with over four million units last year.<\/p>\n

\n\tBased on pure album sales alone, \u201cArirang\u201d has the biggest sales week of any album since \u201cShowgirl,\u201d which had 3.48 million copies sold. The last group to have a larger sales week was One Direction with \u201cMidnight Memories\u201d in 2013, selling 547,000. \u201cArirang\u201d got a big boost from vinyl sales, with 208,000 copies sold across 17 vinyl variants. That makes it the sixth biggest vinyl sales week for an album in the modern era, with Swift holding the top five.<\/p>\n

\n\tBTS<\/a>\u2018 previous number ones include \u201cLove Yourself \u2018Tear’\u201d in 2018, \u201cLove Yourself \u2018Answer’\u201d in 2018, \u201cMap of the Soul : Persona\u201d in 2019, \u201cMap of the Soul : 7\u201d in 2020, \u201cBe\u201d in 2020 and \u201cProof\u201d in 2022. Its latest chart conquest comes after the group \u2014\u00a0Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook \u2014 completed mandatory military service. To celebrate the release of \u201cArirang,\u201d BTS held a concert in Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul that was aired on Netflix, and debuted a feature-length documentary on the streaming service.<\/p>\n

\n\tElsewhere on the chart, Luke Combs secured his seventh top 10 on the albums chart as \u201cThe Way I Am\u201d bows at No. 2. Morgan Wallen\u2019s \u201cI\u2019m the Problem\u201d sits behind Combs at No. 3, followed by Harry Styles\u2019 \u201cKiss All the Time.
