If Garrett Wilson were the general manager of the New York Jets, who would he select with the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft<\/a>?<\/p>\n

Ponder no more. We have been given the official answer, courtesy of the star wideout himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll say Carnell [Tate], \u2019cause I know him,\u201d said Wilson. \u201cHe\u2019s my dog. And I know he can ball. Hoping the Jets figure out a way to get Carnell home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilson has officially voted for fellow Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate.<\/p>\n

On the consensus big board at NFL Mock Draft Database, Tate is ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect and the WR1. While wide receiver is a desperate need for the Jets, it isn\u2019t common to see Tate mocked to the Jets at No. 2. Many would see him as a reach in that spot.<\/p>\n

However, others believe that Tate is very much in play for the Jets.<\/p>\n

NFL Network\u2019s Daniel Jeremiah stated<\/a> that he has heard rumors of New York considering Tate with the second choice.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the things I have heard is don\u2019t rule out Carnell Tate,\u201d said Jeremiah.<\/p>\n

Contrary to popular opinion, Tate is very much a prospect worthy of the second overall pick. In our analysis of the top four college metrics<\/a> that have historically correlated the closest with future NFL success, Tate came out with a score<\/a> that has only been bested by Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Ja\u2019Marr Chase among first-round wideouts since 2018.<\/p>\n

Wilson and Tate never played together at Ohio State, as Tate did not arrive on campus until 2023, when Wilson was in his second season with the Jets.<\/p>\n
