Infield prospect Cooper Pratt has yet to make his big-league debut. But he\u2019s on the verge of signing his first big contract.<\/p>\n
The promising shortstop in the Milwaukee Brewers\u2019 system is closing in on an eight-year, $51 million deal, sources confirmed to The Athletic\u2019s Ken Rosenthal. The agreement includes two club options with escalators on option years.<\/p>\n
Pratt, 21, has played only three games at Triple A, all this season. Entering the year, he ranked No. 99 on Keith Law\u2019s list of top 100 prospects<\/a>. Law describes Pratt as an elite defensive shortstop who worked the count well at the plate last year at Double A. Law wrote that Pratt has excellent contact skills but \u201cneeds to grow into some more power. \u2026 If he can hit the ball harder on a more consistent basis, he\u2019ll be an above-average regular at shortstop because of all of his other skills, even if he maxes out at 10-12 homers a year.\u201d<\/p>\n Source confirms: Infield prospect Cooper Pratt finalizing eight-year, $51M contract with Brewers.
