{"id":555132,"date":"2026-03-31T00:09:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T00:09:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/555132\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T00:09:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T00:09:08","slug":"former-coatue-partner-raises-huge-65m-seed-for-enterprise-ai-agent-startup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/555132\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Coatue partner raises\u00a0huge $65M seed\u00a0for\u00a0enterprise\u00a0AI agent\u00a0startup\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"speakable-summary\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet another startup\u00a0aiming to help\u00a0enterprises build,\u00a0secure,\u00a0and\u00a0orchestrate AI\u00a0agents has raised a honking-big seed round.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sycamore.so\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Sycamore<\/a> on\u00a0Monday announced a $65 million seed led by\u00a0Coatue and Lightspeed, with\u00a0a long list\u00a0of angels\u00a0including\u00a0former\u00a0OpenAI chief scientist\u00a0Bob McGrew,\u00a0Intel CEO\u00a0Lip-Bu Tan,\u00a0Databricks CEO\u00a0Ali Ghodsi,\u00a0and others.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few things\u00a0turned investors\u2019 heads and drew them to participate in such a big round\u00a0out of the gate. First, unlike many startups in this space, Sycamore isn\u2019t led by a 19-year-old Y Combinator grad \u2014 its founder brings decades of experience:\u00a0Sri Viswanath, a former Coatue investor. He left the full-time VC role in the fall to launch Sycamore, where he is CEO.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019ve spent over 20 years building enterprise platforms at global scale at Sun Microsystems, VMware, Groupon, and as CTO of Atlassian, where I led the cloud transformation and scaled the engineering org to 7,000+,\u201d Viswanath tells TechCrunch.\u00a0\u201cThe round came together through long-standing relationships.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Second,\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0not building a\u00a0single-purpose product that solves one narrow problem but\u00a0attempting\u00a0to build the whole\u00a0agentic\u00a0orchestration layer that handles everything from coding to back-end infrastructure, stepping in wherever needed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMost tools take existing workflows and layer agents on top,\u201d he said, adding that his startup\u2019s product \u201cstarts with the problem itself and then designs and builds the right solution from scratch, whether that involves agents, back-end systems, front ends, or data integrations,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said Sycamore has already gained traction with some big enterprise customers but declined to name them.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet, even with the vote of confidence\u00a0of\u00a0a hefty seed round, Sycamore is entering a field loaded with competition\u00a0in every direction.\u00a0There are countless\u00a0tiny\u00a0startups working on this, ranging from the very small\u00a0(like <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/08\/27\/maisa-ai-gets-25m-to-fix-enterprise-ais-95-failure-rate\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Maisa AI<\/a>),\u00a0to\u00a0nascent startups raising even bigger rounds, like\u00a0OpenAI-backed\u00a0Isara,\u00a0which raised $94 million, The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/tech\/ai\/openai-backs-new-ai-startup-seeking-bot-army-breakthroughs-a0b1fedc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Wall Street Journal<\/a>\u00a0reported last week.
