In honor of HBCU Awarefest this past weekend, Angel Reese<\/a> posted a video of herself rocking Howard University-branded apparel and spoke about her previously held HBCU ambitions.<\/p>\n

Reese, a Maryland native, has several HBCUs in her area but actually pinpointed Howard University as the specific institution that she would\u2019ve chosen in a video posted to her social media accounts.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always wanted to go to Howard because \u2026 I always actually wanted to go to an HBCU,\u201d she said. \u201cBut I also wanted to play in Power Five. So, tough decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Chicago Sky<\/a> player also said that if she were to do tertiary education over again, she would undoubtedly choose Howard as her college of choice.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut in my second life I would be an HBCU alum and I would be a Howard alum,\u201d Reese said. \u201cBecause I just know I wanted to go to Howard and it\u2019s close to home. I\u2019m from Maryland so it\u2019s close. So today\u2019s fit of the day \u2014 Howard Girl.\u201d<\/p>\n

Angel Reese previously expressed support for HBCUs<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time that Angel Reese has expressed her support for HBCUs and her desire to have attended one. In 2023 following LSU\u2019s victory over Coppin State, Reese declared publicly that she would\u2019ve attended an HBCU.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, honestly, I would have loved to go to HBCU. Having the resources and opportunities they don\u2019t, they\u2019re not the same, of course,\u201d she stated. \u201cBut one day, being able to give back to a community like this, and being able to, you know, we came here and we had to pay them to play us.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo being able to do that, of course, I remember my experience playing against Poly at Morgan was just like this. And being able to have the whole city coming out and so many people coming out tonight and supporting us has just been amazing for me,\u201d Reese added.<\/p>\n

Back in 2023, LSU played Coppin, Texas Southern, and Mississippi Valley State, allowing Reese to face HBCU schools and even practice in an HBCU gym when the team traveled to Coppin for the matchup.<\/p>\n
