Woods blamed his cell phone use, though it sounds like he had actually been messing with both his phone and the vehicle\u2019s radio. According the affidavit, Woods told police at the scene that he had been \u201clooking down at his cell phone and changing the radio station and did not notice [that] the vehicle in front of him had slowed down.\u201d<\/p>\n
Manipulating a cell phone and a radio would be distracting enough if one\u2019s faculties were running at full tilt, but the affidavit also noted that Woods had two hydrocodone tablets in his pocket, was \u201csweating profusely,\u201d and had \u201cbloodshot and glassy\u201d eyes. Field sobriety testing led police to conclude that Woods was impaired\u2014though he denied any recent alcohol consumption\u2014and should not have been driving.<\/p>\n
