For a band that once advised its listeners to love, touch, and squeeze each other, Journey has endured some ridiculous drama over the past few years, insofar that two of its founding members, Neal Schon<\/a> and Jonathan Cain, are sharing the stage every night on their current farewell tour despite having active lawsuits filed against each other. Septuagenarian fights about management and overspending<\/a> aren\u2019t new to the rock industry, but if sullying the name of Steve Perry comes into play, we\u2019ll need to defend our man posthaste. In a new Rolling Stone article<\/a>, Cain admitted that he purposely lied about Perry\u2019s interest in reuniting with Journey for the band\u2019s tour, which he set into motion with a February interview with<\/a> Ultimate Classic Rock. \u201cI just kind of planted a little seed out,\u201d Cain now told Rolling Stone. \u201cI was trying to fish a little bit, and say, \u2018Well, he\u2019s thinking about it.\u2019 He came immediately out and said, \u2018No, I\u2019m not.\u2019 I kind of did that on purpose, because there\u2019s just so much fake AI stuff going on. You just look at it and go, \u2018Wait a minute, no, that\u2019s not true. None of this is true.\u2019\u201d Cain \u2014 who identifies as MAGA \u2014 got his wish for a 24-hour news cycle to rile up fans, as Perry had to refute<\/a> the rumors and \u201cgently put them to rest.\u201d Seems like this was a great use of everyone\u2019s time, faithfully.<\/p>\n
