As such, in addition to transporting surfers to waves across the world from the comfort of their phones or laptops, they occasionally capture strange and stunning scenes.<\/p>\n
Whales breaching, lightning storms, even possible UFO sightings. And one camera in Western Australia recently filmed something strange, something the team over at Swellnet<\/a> couldn\u2019t quite recognize. Was it a whale? A large shark? Check it out:<\/p>\n Posting the clip to their socials, Swellnet wrote:<\/p>\n \u201cOur Scarborough surf camera captured this incredible specimen swimming on a moody, rainy Saturday the weekend just gone.<\/p>\n \u201cIn the office we’re thinking it’s a shark, and with the incredible size a possible whale shark? If it’s a white it’s an absolute submarine.\u201d<\/p>\n It’s grainy footage, so it\u2019s pretty tough to tell. But it looks like a large black smudge drifting across the screen, a calm yet rainy day at the WA surf spot. It almost looks like a giant amoeba \u2013 or perhaps a gathering of kelp \u2013 but it moves quickly through the water.<\/p>\n Related: Mystery Phantom Island Disappears in Pacific Ocean (Video)<\/a><\/p>\n Of course, others chimed in with thoughts (or jokes) on what it might be:<\/p>\n \u201cIt’s a narco-submarine.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cA crocodile?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt’s not a shark, no side to side movement at all. It’s a whale of some sort, I\u2019d imagine.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s on all three Scarborough webcams and consensus is that it is an oarfish, maybe disoriented after Cyclone Narelle.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cPretty sure that\u2019s Loch Ness.\u201d<\/p>\n Related: Surf Cam Captures Possible UFO Sighting in SoCal (Video)<\/a><\/p>\n Recently, surf forecasting and camera giant Surfline captured something strange on the West Coast of California. It looked like, well, aliens flying over the ocean in the dead of night off Southern California<\/a>.
