Tiger Woods will skip the 2026 Masters Tournament after he was arrested and charged with DUI<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAugusta National Golf Club and the Masters Tournament fully support Tiger Woods as he focuses on his well-being,\u201d Augusta National Golf Club chairman Fred Ridley said in a statement<\/a> Tuesday night. <\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough Tiger will not be joining us in person next week, his presence will be felt here in Augusta,\u201d Ridley added.<\/p>\n

The announcement came after Woods revealed he would be \u201cstepping away\u201d from golf to seek treatment<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,\u201d he said on social media<\/a> Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m committed to taking the time needed to return to a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

On March 27, Woods, 50, was involved in a rollover crash<\/a> in Jupiter Island, Florida.<\/p>\n

Local authorities said the five-time Masters champ showed \u201csigns of impairment\u201d but passed a breathalyzer test that was given on the scene.<\/p>\n

However, Woods declined to give a urine sample<\/a> and was subsequently taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence.<\/p>\n

The athlete spent eight hours behind bars at the Martin County jail\u00a0and was caught by papparazzi looking somber<\/a> after he snuck out a back door of the jail to try to avoid the media.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Woods\u2019 bloodshot-eyed mugshot<\/a>\u00a0was released to the public.<\/p>\n

According to a police report obtained by Page Six on March 31, Woods was caught with pills in his pocket<\/a> at the time of\u00a0his most recent arrest.<\/p>\n

The deputy who searched the golf legend after\u00a0his car crash \u201clocated two white pills inside [his] left side pant pocket,\u201d which were \u201crevealed to be hydrocodone.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pills were bagged and submitted as evidence.<\/p>\n

The affidavit stated that the dad of two \u2014 who \u201chad hiccups during the entire investigation\u201d \u2014 said he had not consumed any alcohol or illegal substances that day but confessed to taking \u201ca few\u201d prescription medications.<\/p>\n

Deputies also observed Woods \u201climping and stumbling to the right\u201d when he agreed to conduct a few field sobriety exercises.<\/p>\n

The pro golfer has had several car crashes<\/a> over the years. <\/p>\n

In May 2017, Woods was\u00a0busted for a DUI\u00a0<\/a>in Jupiter after cops found him passed out behind the wheel of his Mercedes-Benz.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tests showed Woods had Vicodin, Dilaudid, Xanax, Ambien and THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, in his system. <\/p>\n

Soon after Woods\u2019 arrest, he announced\u00a0seeking \u201cprofessional help\u201d<\/a>\u00a0to \u201cmanage\u201d the medications that he claimed were for back pain and a sleep disorder.\u00a0<\/p>\n
