Premier League clubs made payments of \u00a3460m to agents over the past year – a 13% increase on the previous 12 months. <\/p>\n
It covers payments made by clubs to agents registered with the Football Association involving a player, coach or club – including transfer and contracts – between February 2025 and February 2026.<\/p>\n
Chelsea<\/a>, who paid out \u00a365.1m, were the highest spenders for the third consecutive year.<\/p>\n On Wednesday, the west London club announced the biggest pre-tax loss in Premier League history<\/a>. The \u00a3262m deficit for 2024-25 eclipses the \u00a3197.5m lost by Manchester City<\/a> in 2011.<\/p>\n The Blues partly attribute this year’s figure to recording the highest number of player sales in Premier League history. <\/p>\n Chelsea<\/a> offloaded nearly \u00a3300m worth of players to comply with Uefa sanctions.<\/p>\n After record payments of \u00a375m to agents in 2023-24, the club have spent a total of \u00a3200m over the past three assessment years. <\/p>\n Aston Villa<\/a> were second on the list, paying \u00a338.4m, which was an increase of \u00a313.4m – the highest rise of any club.<\/p>\n This is despite the Villans spending a relatively modest \u00a369m on incoming transfers. Unai Emery’s side had a high number of costs associated with renegotiating player contracts and new professional registrations. <\/p>\n In third were Manchester City<\/a> with \u00a337.4m, though year-on-year spending fell dramatically – down by \u00a314.8m from \u00a352.1m.<\/p>\n Arsenal<\/a>, Liverpool<\/a> and Wolves<\/a> also saw significant increases in agents fees. <\/p>\n The Gunners’ payments went up \u00a39.4m to \u00a332.1m. Liverpool<\/a>‘s rose \u00a313m to \u00a333.9m. Wolves<\/a> saw an increase of \u00a312.5m to \u00a326m.<\/p>\n Sunderland<\/a>‘s unexpected promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs brought a rise in payments from just \u00a32.2m to \u00a310.6m.<\/p>\n Alongside Manchester City<\/a>, seven other clubs reduced payments to agents.<\/p>\n Brentford<\/a>, Fulham<\/a>, Manchester United<\/a>, Nottingham Forest<\/a> and West Ham<\/a> saw modest drops.<\/p>\n Newcastle<\/a>‘s payments were reduced by \u00a34.1m to \u00a320.3m, while Leeds<\/a> – despite being promoted – cut outgoings on agents’ fees by \u00a34.9m to \u00a314m. <\/p>\n Spending in the Women’s Super League rose 75%, by \u00a31.6m to \u00a33.8m.<\/p>\n
