We\u2019re just going to manifest in the world that Wagner Moura<\/a> and Kristen Stewart<\/a> must\u2019ve met at our IndieWire Honors ceremony last year<\/a>, and now they\u2019re starring in a movie together. <\/p>\n

In his first role since being Oscar-nominated for \u201cThe Secret Agent,\u201d<\/a> Moura will star in \u201cFlesh of the Gods,\u201d which is the next film<\/a> from \u201cMandy\u201d director Panos Cosmatos<\/a>. Back when the package was announced in 2024, Stewart was attached to star alongside Oscar Isaac, but Moura will now slip into the Isaac role, an individual with knowledge of the project told IndieWire. <\/p>\n

A24<\/a> has also picked up the U.S. distribution rights to \u201cFlesh of the Gods,\u201d which is described as a vampire thriller written by Andrew Kevin Walker (\u201cSe7en\u201d) based on a story by Walker and Cosmatos. <\/p>\n

The idea back in 2024<\/a> was that Stewart and then Isaac would play a wealthy married couple who hit up a bunch of raves in \u201980s Los Angeles, only to meet a mysterious woman who seduces them into a \u201cglamorous, surrealistic world of hedonism, thrills, and violence.\u201d Cosmatos at the time described it as, much like Los Angeles itself, a film that \u201cinhabits the liminal realm between fantasy and nightmare\u2026Both propulsive and hypnotic, \u2018Flesh\u2019 will take you on a hot rod joy ride deep into the glittering heart of hell.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sounds like our kind of movie. And the irony isn\u2019t lost on us that this film represents Stewart\u2019s return to vampire movies since breaking out with \u201cTwilight.\u201d <\/p>\n

Adam McKay and Betsy Koch are producing the film for McKay\u2019s HyperObject Industryies banner, and Jonas Katzenstein and Maximillian Leo are producing for augenschein Filmproduktion. Stewart is also producing with Maggie McLean for Nevermind Pictures. <\/p>\n

XYZ serves as executive producers and as foreign sales agents on the film.<\/p>\n

Moura won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture \u2014 Drama and won the Best Actor prize at last year\u2019s Cannes for his work in \u201cThe Secret Agent.\u201d This is also a reunion with A24 after he starred in the studio\u2019s \u201cCivil War\u201d in 2024.<\/p>\n

Moura is represented by WME, imPRint, and Johnson, Shapiro, Slewett & Kole. <\/p>\n
