{"id":558933,"date":"2026-04-01T21:25:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T21:25:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/558933\/"},"modified":"2026-04-01T21:25:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T21:25:13","slug":"marlins-10-0-white-sox-apr-1-2026-game-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/558933\/","title":{"rendered":"Marlins 10-0 White Sox (Apr 1, 2026) Game Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MIAMI &#8212; \u2014 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/35241\/sandy-alcantara\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sandy Alcantara<\/a> threw the first complete game of the MLB season in a 93-pitch shutout to lead the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/mia\/miami-marlins\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Miami Marlins<\/a> over the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/chw\/chicago-white-sox\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chicago White Sox<\/a> 10-0 on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>              It was Alcantara\u2019s second career shutout with fewer than 100 pitches, known as a \u201cMaddux\u201d in honor of Hall of Famer Greg Maddux. It was his 13th career complete game.<\/p>\n<p>              <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4725251\/liam-hicks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liam Hicks<\/a> homered, had two singles and drove in four runs to increase his major league-leading count of RBI to 12. Otto L\u00f3pez also went deep and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4622931\/graham-pauley\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Graham Pauley<\/a> doubled twice for the Marlins, who ended the homestand 5-1, their best start since 2020.<\/p>\n<p>              After a dominant outing against Colorado in the season-opener, Alcantara (2-0) extended his scoreless streak to 15 innings. The 2022 NL Cy Young Award winner struck out seven, scattered three singles and hit a batter.<\/p>\n<p>              The Marlins struck quickly against White Sox starter <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/5201814\/shane-smith\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shane Smith<\/a> with a four-run first. Hicks hit an RBI single and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4417606\/connor-norby\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Connor Norby<\/a> followed with a run-scoring double. They both scored on Owen Caissie\u2019s single.<\/p>\n<p>              Hicks made it 6-0 with a two-run blast in the second. He drove Smith\u2019s slider over the wall in right for his third homer.<\/p>\n<p>              Javier Sanoja\u2019s two-RBI single in the third padded the lead.<\/p>\n<p>              Miami added two runs late when Hicks hit an RBI single in the sixth and L\u00f3pez connected off White Sox reliever <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/5132121\/jordan-leasure\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jordan Leasure<\/a> in the eighth.<\/p>\n<p>              Smith (0-2) lasted three innings, giving up eight runs and seven hits. In his first two starts of the season, Smith has allowed 12 runs and 15 hits over 4 2\/3 innings.<\/p>\n<p>              Up next&#13;<\/p>\n<p>              White Sox: RHP <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/4867679\/sean-burke\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sean Burke<\/a> (0-1. 6.75) will start Chicago\u2019s home opener against Toronto on Thursday. RHP <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/34943\/dylan-cease\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dylan Cease<\/a> (0-0, 1.69) will start for the Blue Jays.<\/p>\n<p>              Marlins: RHP Eury P\u00e9rez (0-0, 3.86) will start the opener of a three-game series at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/nyy\/new-york-yankees\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Yankees<\/a>.
