For all the trouble Amorim caused and went through at Man Utd, one thing remained constant up until the very end.<\/p>\n

His relationship with Jason Wilcox remained rosy until that infamous press conference after the Leeds game<\/a>, where he called out everyone in sight. <\/p>\n

In fact, it can be argued that his results merited a sacking far earlier than he actually received, with only his relationship with Wilcox<\/a> keeping him in the job. <\/p>\n

He always said he spoke to Wilcox regularly, sometimes multiple times a day, and that was taken as a mark of a solid relationship.<\/p>\n

However, a recent report by the BBC<\/a> states that those Wilcox-Amorim meetings were so frequent because there was always an issue or two to address. <\/p>\n

In contrast, Wilcox doesn\u2019t speak as often with Carrick, safe in the knowledge that he\u2019s navigating the waters calmly at Carrington<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The report states that the staff used to be \u2018on the edge\u2019 under Amorim, but are now relaxed as they feel empowered to know they\u2019re delivering their best.<\/p>\n

With this revelation, another Amorim positive \u2013 his ability to manage upwards and talk with the leadership at a club \u2013 has been exposed as a negative.<\/p>\n

As it turns out, the daily meetings were just Wilcox\u2019s way of trying to keep Amorim\u2019s head on his shoulders, as there was a new issue to address every day. <\/p>\n

In contrast, Carrick is being treated like an adult, trusted to go about his job with minimal interference, something which drove Amorim to frustration. <\/p>\n

This also shows that Ineos wouldn\u2019t have felt the need to interfere in Amorim\u2019s work if his tenure didn\u2019t warrant it, which is another damning indictment of his legacy. <\/p>\n

Ultimately, it is all ageing like milk. Considering Amorim had already lost a lot of goodwill when he left, the revelations since then don\u2019t help his case at all. <\/p>\n

End of an error, as overdue as it was. <\/p>\n
