\n\tDennis Quaid<\/a> is set for a lead role in a series set in the world of NASCAR currently in development at AMC<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tQuaid will star in \u201cThunder Road,\u201d which is being produced in partnership between AMC and NASCAR. The show is described as \u201ca multi-generational saga of the Whitlock family, whose legacy in stock car racing is as deep as the family\u2019s ties to the southern hill country roots that shaped them,\u201d per the official logline. <\/p>\n

\n\tQuaid will star as Duane Whitlock, a.k.a. The Wrecking Ball.\u201d He is described as \u201ca NASCAR legend\u201d and \u201ca towering figure who built a racing empire from a legacy of moonshine runs and dirt tracks\u2026 and refuses to let it die. This is a story about a blue collar dynasty at the edge of extinction \u2014 and the old king fighting to hold onto his crown.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe series is currently on the fast track for a series order at AMC with Quaid\u2019s attachment, with hopes to begin production this summer. <\/p>\n

\n\tQuaid recently starred in the Paramount+ serial killer drama \u201cHappy Face\u201d as well as the Taylor Sheridan-produced \u201cLawmen: Bass Reeves\u201d at the streamer. He has previously starred on shows like \u201cMerry Happy Whatever,\u201d \u201cThe Art of More,\u201d and \u201cVegas.\u201d He is primarily known for his film roles, having led features such as \u201cThe Rookie,\u201d \u201cThe Day After Tomorrow,\u201d \u201cTraffic,\u201d \u201cFrequency,\u201d \u201cThe Parent Trap,\u201d \u201cThe Right Stuff,\u201d \u201cBreaking Away,\u201d and \u201dMidway\u201d among many others.<\/p>\n

\n\tHe is repped by UTA and Hansen Jacobson. <\/p>\n

\n\tJohn Fusco is the writer and executive producer on \u201cThunder Road.\u201d Taylor Elmore will executive produce and serve as showrunner. Cliff Roberts executive produces along with Mark L. Smith. Tim Clark and John Dahl executive produce on behalf of NASCAR. Gladys Cheng produces. <\/p>\n

\n\tThis marks the latest push into sports content for AMC. The basic cabler recently found success with the docuseries \u201cRise of the 49ers,\u201d which premiered as the highest-rated new series for the network since \u201cThe Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.\u201d AMC also recently became the home of TNA Wrestling and its weekly Thursday show \u201cTNA Impact.\u201d <\/p>\n
