UConn women’s basketball star Azzi Fudd is trying to stay focused on the present and her team’s run to the Final Four, rather than thinking about the upcoming WNBA draft where she is expected to be the top overall pick.

Why it matters

Fudd is one of the most highly touted players in college basketball, and her decision to stay present and not get distracted by the looming draft shows her commitment to her team and the chance to win a national championship.

The details

Fudd, a senior guard, said her goal all year has been to stay present and soak in her final days with the Huskies, rather than getting caught up in the hype and speculation around her being the likely No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft after the season.

What they’re saying
