Amid mounting speculation that she won\u2019t be returning following news of her temporary hiatus <\/a>back in February, Bannerman reportedly sent fans a Weverse message later on Thursday. \u201cThank you so much for all the love and support you\u2019ve been sending my way. I\u2019m really grateful for the patience and kindness everyone has shown during this time,\u201d she wrote, via Forbes<\/a>. \u201cHxG and I are having positive conversations and I feel supported. I\u2019m happy and I\u2019m healthy. I\u2019ll share more soon. Thank you for always being there for me.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/p>\n On Feb. 20, Hybe and Geffen Records announced that after \u201copen and thoughtful conversations together, we are sharing that Manon will be taking a temporary hiatus from group activities to focus on her health and wellbeing.\u201d The message read that the companies \u201cfully support this decision\u201d and that Katseye will \u201ccontinue scheduled activities during this time, and we look forward to being together again when the time is right.\u201d<\/p>\n As the group prepares for their Coachella debut in April, none of the other five members of Katseye have yet to comment on Bannerman\u2019s hiatus.<\/p>\n In a February interview with The Cut<\/a>, Bannerman discussed the pressure of being the sole Black member of\u00a0Katseye<\/a>. \u201cBeing called lazy, especially as a Black girl, is not fair,\u201d she said, commenting on the criticism that has followed her since\u00a0Dream Academy, where the singer missed rehearsals due to illness. \u201cNow I feel like I always need to put in extra work to prove something, even though I really don\u2019t.\u201d Bannerman only missed one date of their debut headlining tour, which concluded in December.<\/p>\n Rolling Stone music writer Larisha Paul examined the isolation and pressures artists who have been in Bannerman\u2019s position have faced<\/a>. \u201cThe idea that Black women should simply power through, or endure mistreatment under the guise of proving themselves, is systemic.
