The relationship between Josh Allen and Joe Brady has changed. And Brady isn\u2019t thrilled by the most tangible example of it.<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters this week at the NFL\u2019s annual meeting, Brady explained the new dynamic.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, the hardest thing is \u2014 it\u2019s driving me crazy \u2014 him calling me \u2018coach,\u2019 \u201d Brady said, via Jay Skurski of the Buffalo News. \u201cI hate that<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, Allen is the leader of the team. If he calls Brady \u201ccoach,\u201d the rest of them will follow suit.<\/p>\n

The situation is somewhat unique. The Bills heavily involved Allen in their coaching search, perhaps as part of the effort to get him to not blame himself for Sean McDermott being fired.<\/p>\n

Allen was present for all interviews. He attended the introductory press conference on crutches. (In contrast, it\u2019s unclear what, if any, role Lamar Jackson had in the hiring of new Ravens coach Jesse Minter.)<\/p>\n

\u201cHe let me know straight up,\u201d Brady said of Allen, \u201c\u2018I\u2019m not the reason you got the job. You got this job, and now we\u2019re in this together.\u2019 Like any head coach and quarterback, you\u2019re attached at the hip.\u201d<\/p>\n

Indeed they are. And the clock is ticking on Allen\u2019s career. He\u2019s had eight years in the league. He\u2019s smack dab in the middle of his prime. <\/p>\n

How many chances remain?<\/p>\n

For the foreseeable future, Brady will be responsible for Allen\u2019s annual opportunity to boldly go where no Bills team has gone before. Whatever label Allen applies to Brady, he\u2019ll have a central role in the crafting of Allen\u2019s eventual legacy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The relationship between Josh Allen and Joe Brady has changed.
