\n\tEXCLUSIVE: There will be no second season of\u00a0The Runarounds<\/a> as Prime Video<\/a> has opted not to renew the YA series.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe development is not surprising as it\u2019s been seven months since the eight-episode first season of the music drama was released on Sept. 1. According to sources, the show was quietly canceled a couple of months ago. Its female lead, Lilah Pate, recently booked a series regular role on another show<\/a>, Taylor Sheridan\u2019s Tulsa King spinoff Frisco King for Paramount+. <\/p>\n

\n\tWhile The Runarounds the series is ending, the eponymous rock band that was at the center of it will carry on for the foreseeable future. The group, comprised by series stars and real-life musicians William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zend\u00e9 Murdock, and Jesse Golliher, is on tour through the end of June. <\/p>\n

\n\tCreated by Jonas Pate, co-creator of series Outer Banks, and executive produced by all three Outer Banks co-creators, Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke, The Runarounds was inspired by the real band of the same name formed in 2021 to appear on the hit Netflix action-adventure YA series. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Runarounds was part of Prime Video\u2019s major YA expansion following the blockbuster success of The Summer I Turned Pretty that has included hit series Maxton Hall and We Were Liars, the popular Culpables movie franchise as well as another 2025 show that did not get a second season, Motorheads. <\/p>\n

\n\tLike Motorheads, The Runarounds was not able to break through. It didn\u2019t make it into Nielsen\u2019s Top 10 though it charted on Luminate\u2019s Top 50 in its first three weeks, logging 1.9M hours watched in the U.S. at #32 for its opening weekend, followed by 2.2M (#27) and 1.2M (#41) in Weeks 2 and 3. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Runarounds, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Skydance Television, follows a group of recent high school graduates from Wilmington, North Carolina, who come together the summer after graduation to form a rock band, united by their shared love of music and near-impossible dream of stardom.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition to Lipton, Ellis, Yun, Murdock, Golliher and Lilah Pate, whose father is Jonas Pate, the cast includes Maximo Salas, Kelley Pereira, Marley Aliah, Mark Wystrach, Brooklyn Decker, Hayes MacArthur, and Shea Pritchard.<\/p>\n
