ROTONDA, Fla. (WINK) \u2014 A golfer at Rotonda Golf and Country Club accomplished what most players only dream of by hitting two hole-in-ones in just 10 days.<\/p>\n
Ed LaRue, who plays three or four times a week, aced his first hole on March 21. Ten days later, he stepped up to the tee on hole number three and watched his ball draw from right to left onto the green before it disappeared into the cup.<\/p>\n
“Seeing that ball in the bottom of the cup and knowing that I had two holes in one in the last 10 days was a thrill,” LaRue said.<\/p>\n
The achievement earned LaRue a certificate, a hat and a photo opportunity with club manager Harold Kennedy. Kennedy was stunned when LaRue returned to the pro shop so soon after his first ace.<\/p>\n
“Two days ago, he came in, he said, you won’t believe it. He said, I got another one,” Kennedy said. “I said, you got to be kidding me. That’s 2 in 10 days. Well, I think the odds are, like, one in 65 million of doing that.”<\/p>\n
While most golfers never witness a hole-in-one, LaRue has now made it look routine. One fellow golfer at the course called it a miracle, having never seen an ace despite years of playing.<\/p>\n
LaRue was temporarily sidelined by cataract surgery but received clearance from his doctor to return to the course. He plans to be back playing and testing his luck again, though he joked about the potential consequences of another ace.<\/p>\n
“Oh yeah, I’ll be back Monday,” LaRue said. “The doctor gave me the clearance to play Monday, and I think if I have another hole in one, I’ll probably get kicked off this golf course.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ROTONDA, Fla.
