Soto was forced out at home plate when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/42414\/brett-baty\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brett Baty<\/a> grounded into a 1-2-3 double play, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/32783\/tyrone-taylor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tyrone Taylor<\/a> replaced Soto in left field for the bottom of the first.<\/p>\n<p>Soto, 27, is in the second season of a record 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets. He had 43 homers and 105 RBIs last season.<\/p>\n<p>Soto began his big league career with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/wsh\/washington-nationals\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Nationals<\/a> in 2018. He has also played for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/sd\/san-diego-padres\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">San Diego Padres<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/nyy\/new-york-yankees\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Yankees<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Soto has hit safely in all eight Mets games this season.
