The U.S. military is searching for a missing service member<\/a> after two American warplanes went down<\/a> in separate incidents, including what officials say is the first confirmed shoot-down since the war with Iran started nearly six weeks ago.<\/p>\n

One fighter jet was shot down over over a remote area in southwestern Iran, according to officials. One crew member was rescued<\/a>, while another remained unaccounted for on Saturday morning as search-and-rescue operations continue.<\/p>\n

In a separate incident, an A-10 aircraft went down over the Persian Gulf. Iranian state media said the jet was hit by air defenses, but an official told the Assocaited Press it remains unclear whether the aircraft was shot down or crashed.<\/p>\n

The developments come just a few days after President Donald Trump said the U.S. had “decimated” Iran\u2019s military<\/a> amid Operation Epic Fury<\/a>. U.S. Central Command reported more than 300 American service members have been hurt since fighting began, with some still listed in serious condition.<\/p>\n

The war is also rattling global markets, as Iran targets energy infrastructure and threatens shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for the world\u2019s oil supply.<\/p>\n

“With a little more time, we can easily OPEN THE HORMUZ STRAIT, TAKE THE OIL, & MAKE A FORTUNE. IT WOULD BE A \u201cGUSHER\u201d FOR THE WORLD???” Trump wrote on Truth Social early Friday morning.<\/p>\n
