Efforts are underway to secure the necessary materials and equipment to complete the work.<\/p>\n<p>Water crews completed the temporary repair to the South Maui mainline break today, and water service is currently being restored and is expected to return to normal within the next couple hours.<\/p>\n<p>ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW AD<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the initial repair period today, water demand remained high, which contributed to low tank levels and temporary service disruptions in some areas,\u201d DWS Director John Stufflebean said. \u201cWe are asking for the community\u2019s k\u014dkua during this next phase of repairs Sunday through Monday. With a longer repair window ahead, conservation will be critical to maintaining water availability for essential needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Water outage or low pressure may occur during the repair period, particularly in areas mauka of L\u012bpoa Street, between L\u012bpoa Street and Kilohana Drive, and throughout Wailea and M\u0101kena. Water storage tanks are being refilled; however, they may rapidly deplete if conservation efforts are not followed during this period, potentially resulting in additional low pressure conditions and outages in the surrounding areas.<\/p>\n<p>Affected areas include the Maui Research &amp; Technology Park, K\u012bhei Charter School, and surrounding businesses and residents throughout K\u012bhei, Wailea and M\u0101kena. Maui Meadows is not expected to be affected; however, residents are still asked to conserve water during this time.<\/p>\n<p>ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW AD<\/p>\n<p>Customers are asked to refrain from all nonessential water use, including watering lawns and washing vehicles.
