Jason Day’s Masters outfit has some complications. <\/p>\n
Jason Day is known to push the boundaries of the PGA Tour\u2019s dress code, but the Masters<\/a> attire is typically a little more traditional than other tournaments. Day was pushed to go back to the drawing board for his Masters wardrobe ahead of the 2026 tournament.<\/p>\n Day has once again partnered with the apparel brand Malbon but some adjustments needed to be made for his Masters fit. The star golfer planned to wear a matching bird-patterned jacket or shirt and pants. Instead, Augusta National requested that Day wear solid pants instead of his planned bird-themed trousers. <\/p>\n \u201cScarlet tanagers, orioles<\/a>, eastern bluebirds, cardinals<\/a>, blue jays<\/a>, golden finch, and, yes, the red-headed woodpecker (a war symbol of the Georgia-native Cherokee tribe, in case Day is interested) are featured on Day\u2019s shirts, vests, and coat for the Masters,\u201d SI.com\u2019s Brian Giuffra wrote<\/a> in an April 2, 2026, story titled, \u201cJason Day Will Wear Bird Print at the Masters as Malbon Continues to Push Fashion Limits.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cThe vest he\u2019ll wear on Wednesday is fashioned after birding jackets, complete with a pocket for binoculars. Day was supposed to wear a matching pair of pants with the bird print, but the club requested Day wear a solid print instead.\u201d<\/p>\n Here\u2019s a look at Day\u2019s initial planned outfit.<\/p>\n Jason Day Has Earned More Than $66 Million Over His PGA Tour Career<\/p>\n Since joining the PGA Tour in 2008, Day has earned more than $66 million. <\/a> Day has quite a resume with 13 victories over his career, including the 2015 PGA Championship. <\/p>\n Bird pants or not, Day is typically one of the first golfers to arrive at Augusta National. Day revealed that he often arrives on the Saturday before the Masters and plays nine holes following the completion of the Augusta National Women\u2019s Amateur. <\/p>\n \u201cThat Saturday, it would be like if you died and went to heaven and you were playing a round of golf up there,\u201d Day told The Sunday Morning Herald\u2019s Evin Priest during an April 3, interview. <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cTypically, I\u2019ll play the back nine and there won\u2019t be a single soul. It\u2019s the most peaceful nine holes you can have on a golf course all year. Co-founder Stephen Malbon discussed the thought process on the bird theme for the Masters. <\/p>\n \u201cIf you are on the course and you are tuned in with nature and know the sounds of birds, you\u2019ll make more birdies,\u201d Malbon told SI.com. \u201cIt\u2019s inspired by Native American beliefs. Each one of these birds has a different meaning. I\u2019ve been sending the noises of the birds to Jason for the last six months. Hopefully, he\u2019s trying to stay in touch with nature.<\/p>\n \u201c\u2026 It\u2019s okay if you like to go birding or fishing or hunting or working out or skiing, and you also like playing golf.
