Prior to her drawn out legal battle with Justin Baldoni<\/a>, Blake Lively pleaded with the Producers Guild of America to acknowledge her work as a producer. <\/p>\n

In a lengthy January 25, 2024 email to the guild obtained by the Daily Mail<\/a> \u2014 and used to determine that most of her claims against Baldoni could not proceed \u2014 The \u201cGossip Girl\u201d alum wrote to \u201cbare her heart\u201d in asking them to read it, as her \u201coff camera\u201d work in \u201cIt Ends With Us\u201d means \u201cmore to [her] than anything [she\u2019s] done\u201d in her \u201ctwenty year career.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cJust a few days ago, I was officially granted the title of Producer, after a year and a half of asking, and working tirelessly to prove the validity of that title,\u201d she continued in the 5-page email. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve produced every moment of this film, from pre-production, through production, into post, and now into worldwide marketing and release.\u201d <\/p>\n

Lively noted that she was \u201cgrateful\u201d her contract was \u201crevised to reflect the immense work that I put in\u201d and asked the guild for the \u201cgreat honor\u201d of receiving a PGA tag. <\/p>\n

She added that in her household \u2014 which includes husband Ryan Reynolds \u2014 the PGA tag is \u201cthe highest honor in film.\u201d <\/p>\n

Lively also confessed that she was aware of the \u201cgravity\u201d of her request, that it had been late in getting to the guild, and that it was \u201cabsurd\u201d of her to ask. However, she explained, \u201cWithout the official title of Producer, [her] hands\u201d had previously been tied in the matter. <\/p>\n

Lively went on to note that she had the support of peers who had gained PGA tags, and proceeded to list 77 bullet points in support of her request. <\/p>\n

The admittedly \u201cdense\u201d list included a claim that she \u201crewrote the script to improve the role of Jennie Bloom after 3 actresses turned in down,\u201d that she \u201ccalled in favors with fashion contacts\u201d to get clothing \u201cloaned, discounted, or gifted\u201d to lower production costs, and that she \u201cidentified and onboarded freelance team members for the cast members.\u201d <\/p>\n

Lively seemingly did obtain the PGA tag for the film, some but fans are said to have pushed back and called for it to be rescinded<\/a> with an online petition. <\/p>\n

Judge Liman cited the letter in a decision to throw out most of Lively\u2019s claims against Baldoni, saying the bullet points proved she was not an employee, but an independent contractor, and therefore could not continue with her sexual harassment claims. Reps for Lively and Baldoni did not immediately return Page Six\u2019s request for comment on Saturday. <\/p>\n

The letter resurfaced amid Lively\u2019s ongoing case against Baldoni, the movie\u2019s director. Judge Lewis Liman quoted from the letter in a judgement throwing out 10 of Lively\u2019s 13 claims<\/a> against Baldoni on Thursday. <\/p>\n

The New York City judge said that \u201cnot only did [Lively] reserve substantial contractual control over her participation in the film, but she exercised that control\u201d and cited bullet points from her letter to the DGA. <\/p>\n

She could not be considered an employee of Baldoni or Wayfarer Studios, which backed the film, and was instead an \u201cindependent contractor,\u201d \u2014 a distinction which, according to the judge, disallowed her from continuing with her sexual harassment claims against Baldoni. <\/p>\n

The claims of retaliation, aiding and abetting in retaliation and breach of contract, have been allowed to proceed. A trial is set for May 18. <\/p>\n

Following the devastating ruling, Lively\u2019s legal team indicated she \u201clooks forward to testifying<\/a> at trial and continuing to shine a light on this vicious form of online retaliation so that it becomes easier to detect and fight.\u201d <\/p>\n

Baldoni\u2019s team, meanwhile, noted in a statement to Page Six<\/a>, \u201cThese were very serious allegations, and we are grateful to the Court for its careful review of the facts, law and voluminous evidence that was provided.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lawyers for the \u201cIt Ends With Us\u201d co-stars are expected to call in to US Magistrate Judge Sarah Cave on Monday to divulge \u201ctheir client\u2019s updated settlement position<\/a>\u201d in separate meetings. <\/p>\n

The \u201cSimple Favor\u201d actress, 38,\u00a0sued the Wayfarer Studios co-founder<\/a>\u00a0in December 2024 after initially filing a complaint against him earlier that month. <\/p>\n

She claimed the Wayfarer Studios co-founder\u00a0owed her monetary damages<\/a>\u00a0of at least $161 million over what she labelled a smear campaign as the movie was being promoted.<\/p>\n

Baldoni vehemently denied\u00a0the actress\u2019s claims<\/a>\u00a0and lashed out with a $400 million countersuit against Lively and her\u00a0husband, Ryan Reynolds<\/a> \u2014 though a judge tossed Baldoni\u2019s lawsuit<\/a>\u00a0on June 25.<\/p>\n

The co-stars\u00a0met in a Manhattan court<\/a>\u00a0on February 11, an effort Baldoni\u2019s lead attorney, Bryan Freedman, called \u201cunsuccessful\u201d<\/a>\u00a0in comments to Deadline. <\/p>\n
