\n\tAnd Just Like That<\/a>\u2026 may not have been everyone\u2019s style, but co-creator Michael Patrick King<\/a> believes the HBO Max requel series will get its due \u2014 in due time.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a recent interview with The Guardian<\/a>, the writer\/executive producer noted that the three-season Sex and the City<\/a> follow-up will potentially enjoy cult status over time.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIf The Comeback<\/a> has taught me anything, it\u2019s that perceptions can change over the years,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cThe Comeback\u2019s first perception was: it failed. Then it grew in relevance as the world caught up. I think And Just Like That\u2026 will potentially age well. It has the same DNA as the original\u00a0Sex and the City, which was society telling 35-year-old women they should be married. In And Just Like That, society was telling 55-year-old women they shouldn\u2019t be wearing tulle. I\u2019ve always tried to be excited about writing the individual vs. society.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPremiering in 2021 and concluding its run in 2025, And Just Like That\u2026 reunited a majority of SATC\u2018s tight-knit friends as they found themselves reckoning with new challenges, romantic and otherwise, in their 50s. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon all reprised their roles as Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda, respectively.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe series was largely panned by critics and fans alike, though a significant portion of viewers found delight in hate-watching<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m interested in how characters change. The surprise for me was discovering that fans don\u2019t want their characters to change \u2013 they want to see them frozen in the time they fell in love with them. That\u2019s a particular dilemma if you\u2019re trying to move things forward,\u201d King said of the revival series. \u201cIf there was a great disaster, it would have been if And Just Like That\u2026 tried to be Sex and the City. It\u2019s much better to come back, break it and be a new show, even though you\u2019re going to get hit with, \u2018We like the other show better.\u2019 Well, OK \u2014 it\u2019s still there.\u201d<\/p>\n
