Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>McGinley, who played a cruel jock in the 1984 flick, shared that he was ignored by Carradine (seen above with Anthony Edwards) and other actors on set. \u00a920thCentFox\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/p>\n<p>McGinley (pictured with Julia Montgomery and Carradine) said the animosity disappeared when they began night shoots. 20th Century Fox\/Kobal \/ Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I showed up on set, they wouldn\u2019t talk to me, they wouldn\u2019t have anything to do with me,\u201d the \u201cShrinking\u201d star remembered. \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018OK, so this is where it\u2019s going to be,\u2019 and that\u2019s where it was for quite a while. I truly didn\u2019t like the nerds!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But relations began to warm when the cast, which included John Goodman and Timothy Busfield, began two weeks of night shoots.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s when it all changed,\u201d McGinley revealed. \u201cWe all had to be there together, and so that\u2019s when we became sort of one big, beautiful group.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s when we became sort of one big, beautiful group,\u201d the actor (seen above with Donald Gibb, Matt Salinger and John Goodman) shared. 20th Century Fox\/Kobal \/ Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cMarried\u2026 with Children\u201d alum knew the movie would be a hit when he heard Carradine\u2019s braying laugh. Moviestore Collection \/ Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>In February, Carradine <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/02\/24\/entertainment\/robert-carradine-revenge-of-the-nerds-and-lizzie-mcguire-actor-dead-at-71\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">died by suicide<\/a> after a yearslong battle with bipolar disorder. He was 71.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is with profound sadness that we must share that our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and brother Robert Carradine has passed away,\u201d his family said in a statement at the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a world that can feel so dark,\u201d the statement continued, \u201cBobby was always a beacon of light to everyone around him. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>McGinley (photographed in February) can currently be seen in \u201cShrinking.\u201d Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>McGinley, 67, said he remembers the first time he heard Carradine let loose his character\u2019s distinctive braying laugh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRobert was so purely in the moment and so happy to be that guy with this pocket protector nerd pack,\u201d the \u201cDynasty\u201d alum recalled fondly. \u201cAnd I remember looking, and I thought, \u2018Wow, this is going to be successful \u2026 he\u2019s brilliant,\u2019 and so was Anthony Edwards. They were a great team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2022\/10\/01\/married-with-children-star-admits-it-was-a-very-misogynist-show\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cMarried with Children\u201d alum<\/a> can currently be seen in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/video\/shrinking-creator-says-harrison-ford-gets-emotional-over-role-im-so-inspired-when-i-see-him\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Apple+ series \u201cShrinking.\u201d<\/a> McGinley told Page Six that he is still a little gobsmacked about <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/04\/entertainment\/harrison-ford-hints-hell-retire-from-acting-after-shrinking-ends\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">playing opposite Harrison Ford<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The actor (seen above) told us he can\u2019t believe he\u2019s on a show with Harrison Ford. Kevin Estrada<\/p>\n<p>McGinley said working with Ford (seen above with Jason Segel) has been \u201camazing.\u201d AP<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI never in my wild[est] dreams imagined that I [would] get this shot,\u201d he marveled. \u201cI remember always going in on films and thinking, \u2018I wonder what it would be like. [I\u2019d] just give anything to see what it would be like to work opposite a guy like Harrison Ford, just the biggest movie star in the world.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, McGinley was not disappointed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s amazing.
