Apple just pulled the curtain back on the iOS 26.5 public beta, handing testers a first look at the next wave of iPhone updates. The most culturally relevant drop in this iteration is the Suggested Places tab native to Apple Maps. Designed to spotlight trending restaurants, shops, and hotspots based on your location and search history, the feature also lays the foundational groundwork for seamlessly integrated, location-based advertisements. Apple has confirmed these upcoming ads will be clearly marked, keeping a tight lock on privacy by ensuring all personal data stays strictly on-device.

Beyond navigation, Cupertino is doubling down on cross-platform communication. The beta continues testing end-to-end encryption for RCS messages—bridging the perennial gap between iPhone and Android users with much-needed security. Meanwhile, users out in the European Union are getting an exclusive feature rollout, specifically allowing developers to push Live Activities straight to third-party accessories and wearables, alongside refined notification forwarding.

While the ecosystem gets a solid tune-up, the highly anticipated Gemini-powered AI features are noticeably absent from this build, suggesting Apple is keeping its heavy-hitting Siri overhaul in the vault for the eventual iOS 27 release. If you want to get hands-on early, the firmware is live now via the Apple Beta Software Program, though backing up your daily driver is highly recommended before making the jump.

Summary Apple released the first public beta for iOS 26.5, introducing a Suggested Places feature in Apple Maps…

[41
165,74
post-566767","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-mobile","tag-mobile","tag-technology
["GET
