Dax Shepard was never worried about his wife Kristen Bell\u2019s controversial anniversary post<\/a> that was branded \u201ctone-deaf\u201d and received a ton of backlash.<\/a><\/p>\n

Shepard addressed the controversy for the first time on Monday\u2019s episode of his \u201cArmchair Expert\u201d podcast<\/a>, and said he actually had \u201cno clue\u201d about the uproar it caused.<\/p>\n

Bell received backlash last October \u2014 which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month \u2014 for celebrating their wedding anniversary with the Instagram caption, \u201cHappy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who, after an episode of Dateline, once said to me: \u2018I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I\u2019m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.\u2019 \u2764\ufe0f.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dax Shepard addressed his wife Kristen Bell\u2019s controversial anniversary post last October for the first time on Monday\u2019s episode of his \u201cArmchair Expert\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n

Bell received backlash for her 12th wedding anniversary post to Shepard due to some accusing her of making light of domestic violence.<\/p>\n

Shepard said the post had been up for a week and a half before he even realized there was backlash from people accusing the actress of making light of domestic violence.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was alerted by someone that this whole thing was happening,\u201d Shepard recalled to his guest on Monday\u2019s episode, Nikki Glaser. \u201cI didn\u2019t know, and Kristen knew through her publicist but didn\u2019t tell me. So, I actually didn\u2019t know, and this was brought to my attention.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shepard remained unbothered when Glaser told him the joke she almost said while hosting the 2026 Golden Globes<\/a> in January, telling her it was \u201cvery funny.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shepard said he wasn\u2019t even aware of the backlash until someone told him about it a week and a half later.<\/p>\n

Bell has never commented on the backlash she received, but she did turn off her social media comments<\/a> shortly after the post.<\/p>\n

She also\u00a0avoided talking about the controversy<\/a>\u00a0during her appearance on the\u201cTonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,\u201d and opted out of her \u201cToday\u201d show appearance<\/a>\u00a0the following week.<\/p>\n

A rep for the National Network to End Domestic Violence told Page Six exclusively in a statement<\/a> at the time, \u201cThere\u2019s nothing funny about domestic violence \u2018jokes\u2019 that trivialize the very real fear, trauma and pain that millions of victims and survivors face each day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEspecially during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we all have a responsibility to support victims and survivors, to invest in proven solutions and to speak about this issue with the seriousness it deserves,\u201d the organization concluded.<\/p>\n

Bell, 45, and Shepard, 51, have been married since October 2013.
