Children’s Minnesota<\/a> has restarted its Gender Health program after pausing it a few weeks ago.\u00a0<\/p>\nThe pause came after President Donald Trump signed an order aimed at cutting federal funding from institutions that supported gender-affirming care for people under age 19. Due to these risks, Children’s Minnesota practitioners temporarily paused prescribing puberty-suppressing medications and pubertal hormones for patients under 18.<\/p>\n
In March, a federal judge ruled that the administration cannot threaten to cut off Medicare and Medicaid to health care centers that provide gender-affirming care.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On Monday, Children’s Minnesota announced it was resuming the Gender Health program and is contacting affected families.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“Offering science- and research-based health care to transgender and gender diverse youth is part of Children\u2019s Minnesota\u2019s vision of being every family’s essential partner in raising healthier children,” a spokesperson told KARE 11 in a statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Minnesota was one of the states to sue the Trump administration over the order.
