\n\tThe team behind the recent Hulu<\/a> feature Pizza Movie<\/a> doesn\u2019t appear to be too worried that a meme could be putting the film in a box.<\/p>\n

\n\tDirectors Brian McElhaney<\/a> and Nick Kocher<\/a>, known for their work as the YouTube comedy duo BriTANicK<\/a>, helmed the movie that stars Gaten Matarazzo<\/a>, Sean Giambrone and Lulu Wilson. During a recent Reddit AMA<\/a>, the directors addressed a meme that shows two stills from the project, including one of Matarazzo screaming, and includes the seemingly dismissive caption, \u201cI\u2019m good bro,\u201d in addition to laughing and head-smack emojis. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cUm\u2026. We\u2019re still trying to fully comprehend it,\u201d McElhaney said when a Reddit user asked if the meme has helped or hurt the film\u2019s release. According to McElhaney, versions of the meme have since popped up that put a more positive<\/a> spin on the movie: \u201cOnce it started turning to \u2018It\u2019s good bro!\u2019 we felt much better. We honestly think it might have helped build more awareness than anything, so we\u2019ll see, I guess\u2026 Ask us again in a month.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAdded Kocher, \u201cAny press is good press? We hope?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen a different user asked a similar question about whether the \u201cI\u2019m good bro\u201d post has been a blessing or hindrance for marketing, Kocher replied, \u201cRemains to be seen! I think it\u2019s trending toward a HUGE blessing though. I\u2019ve seen EVERY meme, and I\u2019ve found a lot to be really funny. The one about me committing seppuku<\/a> because \u2018I wish to crumble beneath the glowing legacy Pizza Movie will leave behind\u2019 legitimately made me laugh.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPizza Movie centers on Matarazzo and Giambrone as two college roommates who learn that the recreational drug they both just ingested will have dangerous side effects unless they counteract it by eating pizza. Over the weekend, the film debuted as the No. 1 title on Hulu and Disney+, according to the streamers. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe filmmaking duo, who also wrote the script for the action-comedy feature Over Your Dead Body that hits theaters this month, told The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> during a recent interview that Matarazzo auditioned for Pizza Movie and was excited to work on it as he looked toward his post-Stranger Things<\/a> career.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe didn\u2019t want to have to convince anyone or sell anyone to do it,\u201d Kocher said. \u201cHe was enthusiastic the whole time. I\u2019m so glad he did this movie.
