\n\tEXCLUSIVE: On April 1, 50 Cent<\/a> teased his social media followers that Hulu<\/a> was paying $75M for a new doc about the rapper, beating out Starz, Netflix and Apple.<\/p>\n

\n\tGiven the timing it was clearly an April Fool\u2019s Day joke, right? Not entirely, it seems.<\/p>\n

\n\tDeadline understands that the Disney-owned streamer has, in fact, greenlit a new documentary series about the man born Curtis Jackson.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe three-part series will tell Jackson\u2019s story from starting out in Queens, getting shot by nine bullets and becoming one of the most successful rappers in the world, selling more than 30 million records.<\/p>\n

\n\tPer the logline, the \u201cdefinitive\u201d documentary will chronicle the evolution of 50 Cent\u2014from the streets of Queens to global cultural dominance\u2014exploring how he relentlessly reinvented himself across music, business, and film while redefining the rules of power, influence, and success. Through an intimate and revealing lens, the series portrays a figure who has consistently transformed conflict and adversity into enduring cultural impact.<\/p>\n

\n\tJackon broke out with his 2003 record Get Rich or Die Tryin\u2019, which featured the single In Da Club. He moved into television and film with Starz\u2019s Power and its extended universe. Jackson was also behind hit Netflix documentary series Sean Combs: The Reckoning.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe untitled project is directed by Mandon Lovett, who directed Paramount+\u2019s For Khadija: The French Montana Story, Origins of Hip-Hop and Hulu\u2019s Rap Caviar Presents. It is produced by The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), which produced Rap Caviar Presents, and Jackson\u2019s G-Unit Film & Television.<\/p>\n

\n\tPatrick Altema, who produced CNN\u2019s Dreamland: The Burning of Black Wall Street and Amazon\u2019s Free Meek, will serve as showrunner. He will exec produce alongside Jackson, Lovett and IPC\u2019s Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman, who just left Sony Pictures Television.<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\tIt marks the latest music documentary project for Hulu, which is also behind Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story and Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band.<\/p>\n

\n\tJackson is represented by IAG, and attorney Stephen J.
